Many Anchorage based retailers now offer online shopping where groceries and other items can be purchased over the internet and then collected at the store. If you prefer to shop directly with these retailers, Greatland Grocery and Supply can help you get your independently placed orders to any location in Alaska, saving you both considerable time and money!

Through our expediting services, we collect your online orders on your behalf at the retailer’s store, prepare and package your purchased items, and then ship to your location via USPS or air freight.  We expedite orders from any Anchorage based retailer and can also consolidate orders if purchasing from multiple locations.  Groceries and other items sent through our expediting services are managed through the same level of care as those purchased through our own storefront.

Items shipped through our expediting services must be purchased directly from the retailer and fees for Greatland’s expediting services are paid prior to shipment.  Once payment is collected, your items are delivered to USPS or the appropriate Anchorage based air carrier for shipment.

EXPEDITING FEE SCHEDULE

Expediting charges include a flat 25% percentage mark-up on your total order value as a base service charge, plus additional service charges as applicable along with freight.  There are no additional handling, packaging, or fuel surcharges that are applied.

Additional service charges will be applied for shipments that contain items from more than one retailer, if express/rush service is requested, and for delivery to your air carrier if this shipment method is utilized. Express/rush orders will be given priority and will be delivered for shipment within 24 hours of your order being made available for collection by the retailer.  Our service charges are as follows:

  • Multi-Stop/Retailer Charge:  $19.95
  • Express/Rush Service Charge: $49.95
  • Air Freight Delivery:  $49.95

Shipping for any items sent via USPS Priority will be charged at a fixed rate of $.80/lb. For items sent air freight, the customer will be responsible for paying the carrier directly.  Air Freight items will be delivered to your chosen carrier in Anchorage along with your delivery and contact information.  Each air freight company has their own unique rates and payment policies.  Additionally, some air freight carriers require prepayment and some do not.

For reference, a few examples of how our expediting services are priced can be found below.  The first example is for a hypothetical order of $200 which weighs 50 lbs and shipped USPS Priority.  The second is for the same order shipped air freight.  The third is for the same order with items shipped between USPS Priority and air freight.  Depending on the size of your order and the specific items you are purchasing, different options may present greater value.
